How Much Does a BBL Cost? Brazilian Butt Lift Pricing in Beverly Hills

Dr. Cat Begovic's surgeon's fee for a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) in Beverly Hills is $56,500 to $63,500, for the liposuction of several areas that harvests the fat and the transfer to the buttocks. The operating room and the board-certified physician anesthesiologist are quoted at your consultation, once Dr. Cat has examined you and set the operating time your surgery needs: operating time varies with your anatomy and with the areas treated together, so it is set by her, not by a price list. Surgeon's fees are typical ranges: a more complex case can cost more, and your fee is set at your consultation and is final only in your written quote. The quote is itemized in writing and includes your compression garment and your follow-up visits. The $500 consultation fee is credited toward your surgery. A skinny BBL is quoted at the same fee, lipo 360 without a transfer is $45,500 to $52,500, and correcting another surgeon's BBL with revision liposuction and fat grafting is $60,500 to $95,000, in surgeon's fees.

For context, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons puts the national average surgeon's fee for buttock augmentation with fat grafting at $7,264, before anesthesia, the operating room and follow-up, averaged across every surgeon who reports. This guide explains the distance between that number and ours: what a BBL quote is made of, what moves the price, what the surgery costs in Los Angeles, Miami and abroad, insurance, financing, and what a cheap BBL can end up costing.

Ranges reflect most patients. The number of areas harvested, the volume you need and the time your surgery takes set the exact price, which you receive in writing at the consultation, with no second invoice after surgery.

How Much Is a BBL With Dr. Cat? The Range Explained

A BBL is two operations in one. Dr. Cat first performs liposuction of the areas where fat has settled, most often as lipo 360: the upper and lower abdomen, flanks, hips and the upper, mid and lower back. The fat is gently washed, then transferred to the buttocks and, when the shape calls for it, the hips, in slow passes with a blunt cannula into the layer under the skin. The surgery takes about six and a half hours, longer when more areas are harvested, under general anesthesia with a board-certified anesthesiologist, in an accredited private surgical center on Rodeo Drive, one patient a day.

Brazilian butt lift: surgeon's fee $56,500 to $63,500. Where you land in the range depends on how many areas are harvested, how much fat your result needs, your BMI and whether the hips are included. Read about the Brazilian butt lift in Beverly Hills, or start with what a BBL is.

Skinny BBL: the same range. A skinny BBL is a BBL for a patient with a low BMI and limited donor fat. It is not a smaller operation and it is not cheaper: harvesting enough usable fat from a lean frame takes more areas and more time, and the shaping is finer because there is less margin.

Lipo 360 on its own: surgeon's fee $45,500 to $52,500. Lipo 360 removes the fat and stops; a BBL removes it, processes it and puts it back. The difference between the two fees is the transfer stage. Our page on liposuction vs BBL sets the two side by side, and our liposuction cost guide covers pricing by area.

BBL with fat transfer to the hips. Fat transfer for hip dips on its own, with limited liposuction, is a $35,000 to $45,000 surgeon's fee. When the hips are treated with a BBL or with lipo 360, the whole plan is quoted as one surgery, and the fee follows the liposuction and the areas transferred, so it can match or exceed the BBL fee. A buttock that has lost volume is a different problem, covered on our page on flat or sagging buttocks.

Revision liposuction with fat grafting: surgeon's fee $60,500 to $95,000. Dr. Cat specializes in revision liposuction, and much of that practice is BBLs done elsewhere: over-suctioned waists with dents and shelves, uneven buttocks, fat placed where it did not survive. The low end is four areas plus one area of fat grafting, the high end seven areas, quoted after she has examined you; the revision consultation is $1,500, credited toward surgery. Read what to do if your BBL did not turn out right.

BBL with a tummy tuck or breast augmentation. Never on the same day with Dr. Cat: the liposuction would compromise the blood supply of the skin a tummy tuck lifts, a breast augmentation asks you to sleep on your back while a BBL forbids it, and either combination pushes anesthesia time past what she considers safe. Those plans, including a mommy makeover, are staged on separate days and quoted as a plan; our tummy tuck cost guide and breast augmentation cost guide carry the other half.

What Dr. Cat Tells Patients About a BBL Before They Talk Price

Three facts shape every BBL quote at our practice, and they are worth knowing before you compare it with anyone else's.

No direct sitting for six weeks. Transferred fat is living tissue that has to grow a new blood supply, and pressure on it in the first weeks kills fat that would otherwise survive. Dr. Cat's rule is no sitting directly on the buttocks and no lying on your back for six weeks; we provide a BBL pillow that puts your weight on the back of your thighs for the short, unavoidable sitting. A practice that tells you two weeks is telling you how much of your fat it expects to keep.

More than 80 to 90 percent of the fat survives. In Dr. Cat's experience more than 80 to 90 percent of the transferred fat survives, which is why her patients rarely need a second round. The figure comes from the whole technique: gentle harvesting through incisions under 4 mm, washing rather than spinning the fat, slow placement in the layer under the skin, and the six-week rule. When a quote is low, ask what the practice expects to survive and whether a second transfer is charged at full price.

Never on the same day as a tummy tuck or a breast augmentation. Combination days are where cheap surgery hides its risk: a long anesthesia, a tired team, two recoveries that fight each other. Dr. Cat stages those combinations on separate days. It costs a second surgery day and a second recovery, and it is the safer plan.

Average Brazilian Butt Lift Cost

Search for the average cost of a Brazilian butt lift and you will find the American Society of Plastic Surgeons figure of $7,264. Read the fine print: that is the average surgeon's fee only. It excludes anesthesia, the operating room, the garment, the pillow, medications and follow-up care, and it averages every surgeon who reports, in every market, doing every version of the operation. The websites that quote an all-in range of about $6,500 to $15,000 describe a typical BBL in a typical market by a surgeon for whom the BBL is one procedure among many.

That is not the surgery this page is about. The BBL has become one of the most requested body procedures in the country, as our post on plastic surgery trends describes, and demand has pulled in clinics at every level of training. A BBL by a specialist who performs every step herself, one patient a day, with a physician anesthesiologist in an accredited facility, costs several times the figures online. Here is what that difference buys.

Factors Influencing BBL Prices

When you compare quotes, compare what is behind the number. These are the questions that separate a $55,000 BBL from a $6,000 one.

How many areas are harvested, and how much fat do you need? The number of areas, the volume you need and your BMI set the operating time, and operating time is what the surgeon's fee, the anesthesia and the facility are priced on. Dr. Cat tells patients plainly when they do not have enough fat to donate.

Who performs your surgery, and how much time does it get? In some practices an assistant does the liposuction while the surgeon places the fat, or moves between two rooms. A BBL done well takes hours: even, gentle liposuction that blends every area into the next, then unhurried placement; speed costs the patient dents, shelves and injured skin that are often irreversible. Dr. Cat performs every stroke of every BBL herself and schedules one per surgical day, and nothing else.

Who puts you to sleep? Ask whether a board-certified physician anesthesiologist is in the room for the entire surgery, or whether anesthesia is delegated to a nurse anesthetist. Every Dr. Cat patient has a board-certified anesthesiologist for the whole case, included in the quote.

Where is the surgery performed? An accredited surgical facility is held to hospital-grade standards for sterility, equipment and emergency readiness; an office suite is not. Dr. Cat operates in an accredited private surgical center in Beverly Hills; read about our office, and our post on the risks and benefits of new technology in plastic surgery explains why she does not chase devices.

How is the fat placed? Fat injected into or beneath the gluteal muscle can enter the large veins there and travel to the lungs, which is how the BBL earned its reputation; the multi-society safety guidance is to place fat only in the layer under the skin, with a blunt cannula, in slow passes. Ask any surgeon whether they follow it. A practice that cannot answer, or that quotes a price it could only meet by working fast, has told you what you need to know. Our guide to what a BBL is covers the risks and the safety history.

What is included? Some quotes leave out anesthesia, the facility, the garment, the pillow or follow-up visits, and the real number appears later. Ask what happens if the surgery runs long and whether a second round or a revision would be charged at full price. Dr. Cat's quote is itemized and complete.

Who is your plastic surgeon? A board-certified plastic surgeon, trained at an accredited academic institution, for whom the BBL is a specialty rather than a menu item; our post on the difference between a plastic surgeon and a cosmetic surgeon explains why the title matters. Read the bad reviews as well as the good ones.

Price follows skill, time and safety. If the price of a BBL seems too good to be true, one of the seven answers above is the reason.

BBL Pricing: Complete Cost Breakdown

Every BBL quote, from any surgeon, is built from the same line items. Here is how each works at Dr. Cat Plastic Surgery.

1. Consultation fee

Many "free" consultations are with a coordinator, not the surgeon. A consultation with Dr. Cat is with Dr. Cat: she examines you, tells you whether you have enough fat to donate and where it will come from, and gives you a realistic opinion of what your anatomy allows. It is $500, or $1,500 for a revision, credited toward surgery; out-of-town patients can start virtually.

2. Surgeon's fee

The largest line and the one that varies most, because it is the price of the surgeon's training, skill and time: the areas harvested, the volume transferred, how long the surgery takes, and how much of it the surgeon performs personally. With Dr. Cat, all of it.

3. Anesthesia

Billed for the anesthesiologist's time and the medications. Some practices lower this line with a nurse anesthetist or with hourly billing and overage fees. Dr. Cat's patients have a board-certified physician anesthesiologist for the whole case, included in the quote; our post on anesthesia types in plastic surgery explains the options.

4. Operating room and facility

Facility fees pay for an equipped operating room, the nursing staff, the recovery room and the supplies. Accreditation is the item to ask about. Dr. Cat's accredited private surgical center on Rodeo Drive is included in the quote.

5. Compression garment and BBL pillow

You will wear a compression garment over the liposuctioned areas for about six weeks; it reduces swelling and helps the skin settle onto the new contour. Your garment and your BBL pillow are provided. Many patients buy a second garment so there is always a clean one.

6. Medications and labs

Pre-operative labs and any physician clearance are billed by the lab or your doctor and are often covered by insurance even for cosmetic surgery. After surgery you will have an antibiotic and a few pain pills in case you need them; most of Dr. Cat's patients manage with Tylenol, which she prefers, because prescription pain medication causes constipation and bloating.

7. Scar care

The incisions are under 4 mm and closed with dissolvable sutures. Scar treatment starts at about two weeks with products the office provides, and the marks fade over six to twelve months.

8. The first night and follow-up visits

You spend the night after surgery at a plastic surgery after-care facility with nursing, who bring you to the office the next morning for your first visit; we explain at the consultation how the first night is arranged and billed. You then see Dr. Cat through the weeks that follow, until she clears you to sit, to exercise and to fly. Some practices bill each visit. Dr. Cat's follow-up visits are included in the quote.

Comparing BBL Providers: What to Look For

Because the BBL is the operation where the surgeon matters most, the research you do before the consultation is worth more than the money you save at it.

  • Credentials. A board-certified plastic surgeon, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, operating in an accredited facility, with the operating surgeon named in writing on your quote. Dr. Cat is a board-certified plastic surgeon, Harvard and UCLA trained, in private practice in Beverly Hills since 2010.
  • Track record. Read patient reviews and study BBL before and after photos from patients with your build, months after surgery rather than days. Dr. Cat's warning to her own patients applies to every feed: many "goal photos" are edited, some by clinics, and a shape that does not exist cannot be quoted.
  • Specialization and technique. Ask how many BBLs the surgeon performs, whether she revises other surgeons' work, where the fat is placed and with what, and what the sitting rule is. The answers should be specific.
  • The consultation. Bring the questions to ask your plastic surgeon and notice whether the surgeon answers them or a salesperson does.

How Much Does a BBL Cost in the US? Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Miami and Near Me

The national spread is wide, and it is wide for reasons. Published price lists and the earlier version of this guide put advertised BBLs at $2,000 to $4,500 at the low end, which almost always means a surgeon early in a career, a high-volume clinic, or a quote that leaves out anesthesia and the facility; mid-range practices with board-certified plastic surgeons at about $6,500 to $12,000 all in; and premium practices in the major cosmetic markets at $13,000 to $40,000 and above. Los Angeles spans that whole range, and RealSelf's reviewer-reported averages put Los Angeles at about $14,400 against Miami at about $6,500, so "near me" tells you where a surgeon is, not what you are buying.

Miami is the highest-volume BBL market in the country, and its prices show it: published lists put a BBL in Florida at about $6,500 to $12,000, Miami at about $8,000 to $15,000 with anesthesia and facility fees at accredited centers, and Houston at about $5,500 to $11,000. Volume is how those prices are possible, and volume is also how Miami earned its safety record: after a run of BBL deaths in high-volume clinics, Florida's Board of Medicine limited surgeons to three BBLs a day and required ultrasound guidance for the injection. Ask any quote from any city how many of these the surgeon will do that day.

Dr. Cat's practice is on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. About a third of her patients travel from out of state or abroad, and our out-of-town patient page explains how the virtual consultation, the surgery week and the follow-up are arranged around the six-week sitting rule.

BBL Cost in Mexico, Turkey, Colombia and the Dominican Republic

A BBL in Tijuana, Cancun, Istanbul, Bogota or Santo Domingo is advertised at a fraction of the American price, often with the hotel included, and it is the reason many of our revision patients first call us. The price is possible because the surgeon's time, the anesthesia and the facility all cost less, and because there is often no follow-up at all: you fly home within days, in an airplane seat, during the weeks the fat needs to survive, and nobody who operated on you sees the infection, the seroma or the dent appear.

With a BBL the stakes are specific: fat placed in the wrong layer can be fatal, fat placed carelessly does not survive, and liposuction done fast leaves damage that is often irreversible. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the CDC both warn about cosmetic surgery tourism, and the CDC has investigated clusters of serious infections in patients returning from cosmetic surgery in the Dominican Republic. A complication after surgery abroad is treated at home at emergency-room prices, and a correction is revision liposuction with fat grafting, $60,500 to $95,000 in surgeon's fees with Dr. Cat, more than the original surgery would have cost done well. Our posts on plastic surgery tourism, the cost and the danger and on social media and unsafe BBL surgery cover what to check before you book anywhere.

Does Insurance Cover BBL Surgery?

In almost every case, no. A Brazilian butt lift is classified as an elective cosmetic procedure, which means private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid do not contribute toward the surgeon's fee, the anesthesia, the facility charges or the garments, and the prices on this page are self-pay prices. The only narrow exception is reconstructive work following trauma, tumor removal or a documented congenital deformity, and those approvals require extensive medical documentation. Pre-operative labs and post-operative prescriptions are often covered under your normal benefits, so check your policy.

Brazilian Butt Lift Affordability: Financing and Tips for Financial Preparation

Because insurance is not an option, most patients plan for the cost through one of three paths. Cherry is our primary financing partner: it offers 0% APR options for qualified applicants, and the soft credit check does not affect your credit score. We also work with CareCredit and Alphaeon Credit. See Plastic Surgery Financing Options to apply, and read how to finance plastic surgery for a comparison. Personal savings remain the cleanest route, since there is no interest, and some patients with strong credit find a personal loan beats medical financing rates. Surgery is paid for before the surgery date.

If you are not ready to commit, these are the steps we see work.

  • Set a realistic date and save toward it, budgeting for the time off, help at home and travel as well as the surgery. In our experience patients who save for six to twelve months end up happier with their choice of surgeon, because they are not choosing on price alone.
  • Plan combinations as a plan, not a bargain. A BBL with a tummy tuck or breast augmentation is staged on separate days with Dr. Cat, so budget for two surgery dates and two recoveries.
  • Ask whether a non-surgical option answers your concern. ThermiSmooth Body tightens mildly loose skin; it does not add volume to the buttocks, and nothing non-surgical does.

If financing is not the right fit, Dr. Cat's advice is to save and wait for the surgery you want rather than settling for a cheaper version now. In this operation the cheaper version is the one that leads to a revision.

The Costs That Are Not on the Quote

A complete budget includes what happens after surgery, and for a BBL that means six weeks of living differently.

  • Time off work. Most of Dr. Cat's patients are back at a desk at about one week and back to most normal activities within four weeks, but the sitting rule shapes the return: a BBL pillow at your desk, no long commutes in a car seat, and standing breaks. If your job keeps you seated all day, talk to us about timing before you book.
  • Six weeks without sitting on your buttocks or lying on your back. This is the cost most patients underestimate. It changes how you sleep (on your stomach or side; see how to sleep after a BBL), how you drive, how you eat at a table and how you travel. Our BBL recovery guide walks through it week by week, and our BBL recovery and timeline post shows the healing photos.
  • Garments, pillow and help at home. Your compression garment and BBL pillow are provided; a second garment is optional and inexpensive. Someone should drive you to your first visits and be around for the first several days, when you are sore and cannot sit to rest.
  • Travel and accommodation. Out-of-town patients stay in Los Angeles until Dr. Cat has seen them at their first follow-up visits and cleared them to travel; see plan your stay.
  • Lymphatic massage: not recommended. Many clinics require a course of post-operative massages at hundreds of dollars a session. Dr. Cat does not recommend them: when the liposuction is done evenly, compression and light walking are all the body needs, and no massage smooths a result that was made uneven during surgery. Read why we say do not get lymphatic massage after plastic surgery before you budget for it.
  • Preparation. No smoking for two months to a year before surgery, depending on your history, and no aspirin, anti-inflammatories, alcohol or herbal supplements for two weeks before; our post on preparing for a Brazilian butt lift lists the rest.

The Real Cost of a Cheap BBL

Plastic surgery is real surgery, and the BBL is the one where a bargain costs the most. The savings on a cheap BBL are borrowed against a waist with dents, shelves and rippling from suction that went too deep or too fast, two buttocks that do not match, fat that did not survive, hard lumps of fat necrosis where too much was packed into one spot, an infection from an unaccredited operating room, or a complication that becomes a hospital bill. Some of that can be improved by a revision specialist. Some of it, especially skin damaged by over-aggressive liposuction, cannot be fully corrected by anyone.

Dr. Cat is sought after for revision liposuction and sees the results of those savings every week. A revision always costs more than the original surgery would have, because scar tissue, damaged tissue and missing fat make it a harder operation. Having your BBL done correctly the first time is the least expensive way to have it done.

Is a BBL Worth the Cost?

For the right patient, a BBL does what no exercise can: it takes fat from where your genetics deposited it and puts it where you want it, with your own tissue, and the fat that survives is permanent at a stable weight. The narrower question is whether it is worth a specialist rather than whoever quotes the least, and the best answer we can give is to look. Dr. Cat's BBL before and after photos show the smooth, blended waist and the natural shape her technique produces, and her success stories describe what the result changed.

When you choose a surgeon, ask about experience with this operation specifically, where the fat is placed and with what, who gives the anesthesia and where, what the sitting rule is, and what the quote includes, and ask for it in writing so you can compare offers on the same terms. If the lowest quote leaves lines out, it is not the lowest quote.

Frequently Asked Questions About BBL Cost

Answers reviewed by Dr. Cat Begovic, MD, FACS. Updated September 2026.

Dr. Cat Begovic's surgeon's fee for a Brazilian butt lift is $56,500 to $63,500; the operating room and anesthesia are quoted at the consultation. The quote is itemized in writing and includes your garment and every follow-up visit. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons' national average surgeon's fee is $7,264, before anesthesia and the facility.

Dr. Cat's surgeon's fee for a BBL is $56,500 to $63,500; the operating room and anesthesia are quoted at the consultation. A skinny BBL is the same fee, lipo 360 without a transfer $45,500 to $52,500, and revision liposuction with fat grafting to correct another surgeon's BBL $60,500 to $95,000, in surgeon's fees. The $500 consultation fee is credited toward surgery.

The same surgeon's fee as a BBL, $56,500 to $63,500, because it is the same operation on a slimmer patient: fat harvested from several areas, usually as lipo 360, and transferred to the buttocks and hips. A lean frame takes more areas and more time, not fewer. Read about the skinny BBL.

With Dr. Cat, lipo 360 with a BBL is the BBL: she most often harvests with lipo 360 and transfers the fat to the buttocks, at a surgeon's fee of $56,500 to $63,500 with the operating room and anesthesia quoted at the consultation. Lipo 360 alone, with no transfer, is $45,500 to $52,500; the difference is the transfer stage.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports an average surgeon's fee of $7,264 for buttock augmentation with fat grafting, before anesthesia, the operating room or follow-up, averaged across every surgeon who reports. Advertised all-in prices in most markets run about $6,500 to $15,000; premium practices publish $13,000 to $40,000 and above.

Because the price is set by who performs the surgery and how much time it gets, who gives the anesthesia, whether the facility is accredited, how many areas are harvested and how the fat is placed. A specialist doing one patient a day costs several times a clinic doing three or four, and the safety gap is larger than the price gap.

Published price lists put a BBL in Miami at about $8,000 to $15,000 with anesthesia and facility fees at accredited centers, Florida at about $6,500 to $12,000 and Houston at about $5,500 to $11,000. Miami's prices come from volume; after a run of deaths, Florida's Board of Medicine limited surgeons to three BBLs a day.

Clinics in Tijuana, Cancun, Istanbul, Bogota and Santo Domingo advertise BBLs at a fraction of the American price because the surgeon's time, the anesthesia and the facility cost less and there is little or no follow-up. A correction at home, revision liposuction with fat grafting, is $60,500 to $95,000 in surgeon's fees with Dr. Cat. Our post on plastic surgery tourism covers what to check.

Prices under $4,000 are a red flag. A safe BBL requires a board-certified plastic surgeon, an accredited facility, a dedicated anesthesiologist and fat placed only in the layer under the skin with a blunt cannula; those alone cost thousands. A deep discount means a corner cut, and a revision costs more than doing it right once.

No. A Brazilian butt lift is an elective cosmetic procedure, so private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid do not pay for the surgeon's fee, the anesthesia, the facility or the garments. The only narrow exception is reconstructive work after trauma, tumor removal or a documented congenital deformity.

In Dr. Cat's experience more than 80 to 90 percent of the transferred fat survives, which is why her patients rarely need a second round. Survival depends on how gently the fat is harvested and processed, where it is placed, and keeping pressure off the buttocks for six weeks.

Dr. Cat's rule is no direct sitting on the buttocks and no lying on your back for six weeks, while the transferred fat establishes its blood supply. We provide a BBL pillow that puts your weight on the back of your thighs for the short, unavoidable sitting. Plan your work, commute and sleep around it. Our BBL recovery guide covers each week.

Correcting a botched BBL means smoothing over-suctioned donor areas, releasing shelves and dents, and grafting fat back into hollows, through scar tissue. Revision liposuction with fat grafting with Dr. Cat is $60,500 to $95,000 in surgeon's fees, from four areas plus one area of grafting to seven areas, quoted after she has examined you. See revision liposuction.

Yes. The $500 consultation fee, or $1,500 for a revision consultation, is credited in full toward your BBL. The discovery call that comes before it is free.

Yes. Cherry is our primary financing partner, with 0% APR options for qualified applicants and a soft credit check that does not affect your score; we also work with CareCredit and Alphaeon Credit. See Plastic Surgery Financing Options.
